Why Hydroponics?

At Triangle Farms, we are using hydroponic technology to grow our vegetables. As a company that wants to revolutionize farming and aims to grow sustainably, we have realized that hydroponics is the way to go if we want a better future.

What is Hydroponics?

Hydroponics is a type of hydroculture farming- which is the technique of growing plants without soil. Instead, water mixed with mineral nutrients is used. The plants’ roots are exposed to this solution, which allows them to absorb all the nutrients they need to grow and bear fruit.

Mineral nutrients that are commonly used for hydroponics are chemical fertilizers, animal manure, bird droppings and fish excrement.

Hydroponics is regarded as a sustainable agriculture technique. A big advantage hydroponics has over regular farming is that it uses very less water. This not only saves water, it also makes it possible for arid regions to grow vegetables that were not possible earlier.

Hydroponics at Triangle Farms

At Triangle Farms, we are combining the best facets of indigenous and advanced farming methods. All our produce is grown via hydroponics, which is in line with our sustainability goals. We recycle the water and nutrients, which reduced wastage and brings production costs down. This ensures high quality yields at reasonable costs.

To make this possible, our vegetables are cultivated inside greenhouses with retractable roofs. Greenhouse farming enables us to control the necessary temperature and humidity that ensures the best yields. Moreover, it helps us maintain optimum hygiene inside our facilities. We keep our greenhouses clean and maintain the highest food safety standards.

Since hydroponics entails cultivation at a certain height, it also reduces physical strain for our employees. Our employees are equipped with advanced machinery to pick the handle, pick and package the products, so that there is no human contact between the produce and the workers. This helps us ensure maximum hygiene.

Greenhouse growing

We are India’s first commercial automated farm with a single 6 Hectare retractable roof cooling house. This helps us take advantage of the sun, while protecting our produce from adverse weather conditions like storms.

We are using solar power to minimize our dependence on grid electricity. Our plan is to go full solar, which will help us become self-sufficient, keep our costs low and also reduce the environmental impact of our operations. Once we go full solar, our operations will be carbon negative.

We are deploying Artificial Intelligence to ensure traceability in our greenhouses. We use Artemis, the cultivation management ERP to keep track of our harvest. Sensors and AI-based analysers help capture every aspect of vegetable growth- from seeding to harvest.
